Project 10 Pan - 2014 summer

Happy Victoria Day!

This month is my birthday month. So, "logically", I did some damage in the beauty world. The moral part of me started getting nervous for my wallet. So I decided to start a project 10 pan starting the first day of June. Usually when people do a project pan, the general rule is that you have to use up all the products before you can purchase any new product. However, I don't think this would work for me. Since this is my first project pan, I want to start easy. At the end of the day, we want something that works for ourselves, not a project that sets high goals but makes us easily give up and end up with a vicious cycle. So, the rules for me are:

1. No purchase unless I have used up one of the products on the list.
2. New purchase can be made if condition 1 is satisfied and a budget of 25 CAD per month is allowed.
3. If there is money left from the 25 dollar budget from the previous month, it can be added to the current month.
4. Budget from the following month cannot be used in the current month.

A few tips for keeping the project going:
1. Avoid going to drugstores and sephora as much as possible.
2. Allow at least 5-minute of thinking before making the decision of whether to purchase a product or not.
3. Only carry cash when going out.
4. Bring the makeup inventory list (I counted how many makeup products I own in each category and printed a list for myself) when I go out. If I see something I want to purchase, take a look at the inventory list, then decide if I really want to add that product into my collection.

Here is a list of the products I want to use up.

1. Complexion

Benefit Hola Bronzer

Mac Prolong Wear Concealer
Tarte Amazonian Clay Airbrush Foundation
Diorskin Nude BB Cream

Benefit Boiing Concealer

2. Eyes
Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in RSVP

Bobbi Brown Black Gel Liner
Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes eyeliner in Dark Grey
3. Lips
Revlon Lip Butter in wild watermelon & sweet tart

I will be updating the progress of my project 10 pan as well.

Stila All Over Shimmer Liquid Luminizer (Pink Shimmer & Rose Gold Shimmer)

If you've read my previous post, you probably know that I am kind of obsessed with Stila. On my recent trip to Urban Outfitters I saw they had a whole bunch of makeup stuff on clearance. So, I scored a pretty awesome deal. So proud of myself!

They were originally CAD 26.00 each and were on clearance for 4.99 each. Each bottle contains 14.1 ml product.

The products are packaged like Benefit's Sunbeam and Highbeam, with a nailpolish-like applicator.

Pink Shimmer
When entirely blended out, it leaves a subtle shimmer on the skin and gives a luminous look without looking like a disco ball.

Rose Gold Shimmer

They can also be mixed with your foundation to get a glowy look.

Stila Holiday Essential Kit

Here's a little special kit from Stila:

It includes three of mini size of Stila's star products:

stay all day waterproof liquid eye liner - intense black (0.25 ml)
stay all day liquid lipstick - beso (1 ml)
eye shadow - kitten (1 g)

I have always wanted to try their liquid eyeliner and kitten eyeshadow. This kit is a perfect opportunity to try out these products.

The eyeliner is amazing! It is really black and stays put all day long. It will not smuge! Not even when I tried really hard to rub it off on my hands when I swatched it.

Kitten is a really gorgeous champagne colour with a lot of shimmer. You can wear it alone and it will open up your eyes and give you that brightened look. It also works as a highlighter for your inner corners of your eyes and your checks.

The texture of the lipstick feels like the matte lipcream from NYX. Personally I am not a fan of this liquid lipstick. Although it is really creamy and highly pigmented, it has a plastic-like scent that I can't stand.

Retails for 24 CAD at Sephora

NOTD (Nail of the Day) - Floral Nail Art

I am still new to the nail art world. I am so obsessed with cute nail designs even thought I still can't even paint my nails perfectly. :P

My beloved/favourite nail artist/youtuber is Cutepolish. http://www.youtube.com/user/cutepolish

Here's my first-try floral nails!

Rimmel London Lasting Finish Colour Rush Long Lasting Intense Colour Balm (Review & Swatches)

Recently I caught a new product from Rimmel in the drugstores. In the past year or so, many brands have come out with the chubby type lip products. At the higher end we have Clinique, in the drugstores there are revlon, covergirl, etc. Finally, Rimmel has come out with their own chubby sticks. I believe they have released this product line in the UK a while ago, but I got so excited when I saw them in Canada!

The packaging of this product is really cute, with vibrant colours, which I really love. And the colours on the packaging are quite accurate as the colour of the actual products. These balms are super moisturizing and pigmented. They also last for a long time as claimed by the company. On the days I wore them, I put them on at around 7:30 am and by the time I finish lunch, which is usually around 1 o'clock, I can still see the colour on my lips. In terms of scent, they have a pleasant light vanilla scent. One thing that worth mentioning is that they do stain your lips. So for people who don't like products that stain, you might want to pass these.

They retail for 6.99 CAD at Rexall and 8.99 at Shoppers Drug Mart.

YvesSaintLaurent YSL Beauty Blossom Lipstick Set (Chinese New Year Special)

Yesterday I went on a "walk" at Sephora. As usual, at the end of my "walk" I had to check out the little bins at the cashier. A little special box caught my eyes!

It contains 3 YSL lipsticks from their different lines: Volupte Sheer Candy in 04 Succulent Pomegranate, Rouge Volupte Shine in 12 Coral Incandescent, and Rouge Volupte in 01 Nude Beige. The set retails for $75.00 CAD. Individual lipsticks from YSL retail for $39.00 CAD, which makes the value for the set $117.00 CAD. So, if you do the math, it's like buy two get one for free. How can I miss it?!

I already have the Volupte Sheer Candy in 04, but I am running low on it. I love the formula and it lasts for a long time for a sheer lipstick/lipbalm. So, this is a great opportunity for me to stock up my love!

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find the set on Sephora website. I guess it's exclusively in store. Next time you are in your local Sephora, be sure to check it out! I'm sure it's going to be sold out really fast, as mine was the last piece in store.
